What to do if you are injured while training
First and foremost you need to consult a physician. If I was standing in front of you I would boldly ask if you took the time to read my article on Proper Form. I would also ask if you read my article on Preventing Injuries. If you did read those articles then were you following the slow and steady process?
Alright, now you already know that you will be postponed in your routine for several months if not years. Put together several questions that you would like to ask your physician, for example:
- Can I continue to workout?
- What can I and can’t I workout?
- Should I see a physical therapist?
- Should I consult a chiropractor?
- Can I still do cardio?
Some good news though, if your doctor tells you that you are only out of the gym for a few months then you should know that you do not lose your strength until about three months.
When you routine to the gym, or at home working out, please follow proper form and go slow and steady.
